Mário Silva’s Record-Breaking Contract and Pany Varela’s Potential Move Highlight Saudi Arabia’s Growing Investment in Futsal

 

According to Jornal Record, Mário Silva is on the brink of becoming the highest-paid futsal coach globally. The 43-year-old coach, who recently left SL Benfica, is reportedly close to signing with a top-tier Saudi Arabian team.

Silva is expected to ink a two-year deal, earning a staggering $380,000 net (approximately €351,000) over the contract period. This lucrative agreement will place him at the pinnacle of the world’s highest-paid futsal coaches, surpassing Nuno Dias of Sporting and Tino Peres of Barcelona, who each earn around €120,000 net annually.

Pany Varela’s Potential Move to Al Nassr

In addition, Jornal Record reports that Pany Varela is also on the radar of Saudi investment in sports, which has been extending beyond football to futsal. The Spanish portal ‘Relevo’ revealed that Varela might join Al Nassr on a three-year deal.

The team, which features Cristiano Ronaldo, aims to make the Sporting winger their futsal star. Pany, who recently helped secure an unprecedented fourth consecutive championship for Sporting, is under contract until 2026 with a release clause of €500,000. Although the deal is progressing well, it has not yet been finalized.
