Last week, we published an article informing the futsal world that history had been made in America at Westcliff University. The University is the first to launch a futsal programme coupled with a scholarship programme, and they have already started their recruitment process. When we published our article four players from Orange Futsal Academy had secured full scholarships to the program, but that has now increased to five.
Ivan Todorovic was named the head coach of both the men’s and women’s programs, and he says that he will recruit futsal athletes based on their technical abilities and mental game, as much, if not more, than their athleticism.
Keep an eye on the Futsal Focus website and social media on Wednesday when we will release the full Futsal & Proud show interview with our host Andre Caro. You will learn more about:
- Ivan and his coaching team
- the University and their support for futsal, and who their teams will compete against

- If their program is supported by US Soccer
- About the kind of players they aim to recruit
- What the scholarship is worth and what it includes
- How they will select players
- If the scholarship is open to foreigners and much more!!
