Portugal, the reigning champions, have dominated recent tournaments, winning the Futsal EURO titles in 2018 and 2022, the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup, and the 2022 Futsal Finalissima. Spain, with seven European titles, and Italy, with two, remain strong competitors. Ukraine, twice runners-up, reached the 2022 semi-finals, losing the third-place match to Spain.
Other notable teams include Finland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Slovakia, who were quarter-finalists in 2022. Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, hosts Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, and Slovenia also participated in 2022. Teams like Belarus, Belgium, Czechia, France, Hungary, Romania, and Türkiye have previously qualified for the competition.
Andorra and Malta have made significant strides, qualifying for this stage for the first time. Malta, in particular, achieved their first competitive win in the preliminary round.
Looking Ahead
Croatia, France, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Ukraine will represent Europe at the 2024 World Cup in Uzbekistan from 14 September to 6 October. Both Latvia and Lithuania will make their finals debut in 2026, adding to the excitement of the upcoming tournament.
