Portugal, the defending champions, bring back 10 members of their 2021 World Cup-winning squad. Despite missing legendary captain Ricardinho for the first time in 20 years, Jorge Braz’s team boasts three of the world’s top players: Erick Mendonça, Pany Varela, and Zicky, along with young star Kutchy, aged 21.

Argentina, the 2016 champions, will also field a powerhouse team, including Cristian Borruto, Alan Brandi, Nico Sarmiento, Pablo Taborda, and Kiki Vaporaki, all aiming for a second title. Ángel Claudino, who scored a spectacular goal in their 2-1 loss to Portugal in the 2021 final, will be another key player under coach Matías Lucuix.

Brazil’s squad, led by three-time Best Player winner Ferrao, also includes Pito, widely regarded as the current top player in the world, alongside veterans like Guitta, Marlon, and Dyego.

Spain, too, brings a stellar squad, regarded as their strongest in years. In addition to three exceptional goalkeepers, players like Tomaz, Lozano, Adolfito, Catela, and Miguel Mellado will be pivotal to their campaign.

Adding to the excitement of Uzbekistan 2024, Kritsada Wongkaeo, at 36, left professional football to pursue his fourth FIFA Futsal World Cup. Despite limited time to prove himself, the Thai veteran did enough to secure his place under coach Miguel Rodrigo.

Uzbekistan, ranked 11th in the world, is eager to deliver for their passionate home fans, with players like Ilkhomjon Khamroev, Khusniddin Nishonov, and Ikhtiyor Ropiev leading the charge. Keep an eye on 19-year-old prospect Fazliddin Botirov, who promises to be a future star.

Futsal veterans Dario Marinovic and Franko Jelovcic of Croatia will finally grace the World Cup stage at the ages of 34 and 33, respectively. New Zealand captain Dylan Manickum, set to make history by appearing in his second FIFA tournament, will lead his side after competing in the last two editions of the FIFA Club World Cup™ against top talents like Fabinho, N’Golo Kanté, and Karim Benzema.
