Regional Teams Battle for Supremacy in Prestigious Tournament

 

The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) is celebrating its tenth anniversary with an exciting lineup of events, beginning with the CAFA 2025 Women’s Futsal Championship. The tournament is currently underway in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, running from February 7 to February 17.

The championship is being hosted at the Multifunctional Sports Complex – Tennis and Water Sports Palace, marking the third time the tournament has been held in the Tajik capital. The composition of the participating teams and the tournament format were determined ahead of the competition, with teams from across the region competing for the prestigious title.

This is the fourth edition of the CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship, which was inaugurated in 2022. Since then, the tournament has been held in Dushanbe in 2022 and 2024, while the 2023 edition took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Iran has dominated all previous editions, winning the championship title three times.

Competition Kicks Off with Exciting Matches

The 2025 CAFA Women’s Futsal Championship officially kicked off today with two thrilling matches. The first encounter saw Turkmenistan and Kyrgyz Republic battle to a 1–1 draw in a closely contested game.

In the second match of the day, defending champions Iran showcased their dominance once again, securing a commanding victory over Uzbekistan. Iran’s scoring lineup included Maral Torkman (two goals), Fatemeh Hosseini (two goals), Elham Anafcheh, Nasimeh Gholami, Zahra Kiani, and Roghayeh Sume’eh. Fatemeh Hosseini was recognized as the Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.

The tournament will continue with Iran set to face Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday, followed by Turkmenistan on Friday, and Tajikistan on Sunday. With the competition now in full swing, fans can expect intense matchups as teams vie for regional supremacy.
