Excitement Builds as Teams Prepare for the Prestigious Continental Showdown
A landmark moment for African futsal took place on Thursday as the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo hosted the official draw for the first-ever CAF Women’s Futsal Africa Cup of Nations.
Set to be held from April 22-30 in Morocco, this historic edition signifies a major leap forward for women’s futsal across the continent. With the draw now complete, the nine participating nations have a clearer picture of their journey towards claiming the prestigious inaugural title.
The draw has set up exciting matchups, pitting teams with diverse playing styles and ambitions against each other in what promises to be a thrilling tournament. Host nation Morocco finds itself in Group A alongside Cameroon and Namibia. Meanwhile, Group B will see Angola, Egypt, and Guinea battle it out, while Group C features Madagascar, Tanzania, and Senegal.
As teams finalize their preparations over the coming weeks, anticipation is building for what is expected to be a fiercely competitive and entertaining showcase of women’s futsal talent. This tournament not only provides a platform for players to shine but also plays a crucial role in developing and growing the women’s game in Africa.
Adding further stakes to the competition, the two finalists will secure their spots at the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, set to take place from November 21 to December 7, 2025, in the Philippines.
