Mohammad Hashemzadeh appointed Indonesia national futsal team head coach

With the AFF Futsal Championship 2022 coming up early next month which will be used as the ASEAN qualifiers for the AFC Futsal Championship later in the year, the appointment of Hashemzadeh is timely indeed, replacing Kensuke Takahashi who returned to Japan. The Japanese coach resigned in early December 2021 after serving approximately 3.5 years. Chairman of the Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI), Hary Tanoesoedibjo decided to appoint Mohammad Hashemzadeh as their coach wrote FFI on its official Instagram account.

The 45-year-old Iranian and former assistant coach to the Iranian national team has extensive experience at the club and national team level,  and is a well-known and respected coach in his country. Mohammad is a legend in his country because of his achievements as both a player and a coach and he has done the  AFC Futsal coaching qualifications Level 1, 2, and 3, and good English skills. He was born in Abadan on January 27, 1977 and has a track record of a brilliant career both as a player and as a coach. As a player her played in the flank position, hanging up his futsal shoes in 2013. The last club he played for was Giti Pasand FC (Iran). He won the Iran Futsal League four times with Tam Iran Khodro, Foolad Mahan Isfahan (2), and Giti Pasand, and won the AFC Futsal Club Cup (2009). With Iran’s futsal national team, he retired in 2010 after winning the Asian Futsal Cup 8 times. Mohammad Hashemzadeh appeared for his country in 115 matches, scoring 50 goals and finished fifth in the Futsal World Cup (2008).

The status of an Iranian futsal legend has strengthened due to excelling while continuing his career as a coach He started as an assistant coach, and won his first title as head coach in the 2016-2017 season with Giti Pasand FC. Trusted to handle Iran’s futsal national team , Mohammad Hashemzadeh successfully continued his country’s status as a strong team in Asia, even the world.

Under his tutelage, Iran’s futsal national team won the Asian Futsal Cup twice , namely the 2016 and 2018 editions, after being runner-up in 2014. He brought Iran’s futsal national team to be the third ranked team in the 2016 edition in Colombia.

For the AFF Futsal Championship 2022, Indonesia is in Group A along with Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Brunei DS. Indonesia’s first game in the competition will be against Brunei DS in Thailand on April 3.
