The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has declared that the top two divisions of women’s football in Spain, as well as the top two divisions in men’s futsal are all to be recognised as professional competitions.
The top flight of women’s futsal has also been included in the change to the statute of Spanish football in what is hoped to be a further step to aid the development of those aforementioned leagues.Until now, these competitions were considered to be examples of amateur football, yet the RFEF presented the changes which had been approved by the sports council on Wednesday.
This qualification of professional status allows these competitions to receive the material, economic, and professional advantages which secure the labour rights of people involved. There will now be a creation of professionalised committees for each league in which the clubs will be integrated and have the autonomy to manage the different aspects of their sport, within the framework set by the RFEF.
Minimum working conditions will be established, as well as control of budgets for the clubs and employment contracts for players and members of staff.
